Life of public service nurtured at Hinds, still continues
“Being the son of a deputy sheriff and a nurse, I knew I wanted to do something to help people,” he said. “My parents taught me to get involved in the community and help someone who doesn’t have a voice.”
Chad Bradford inducted into SHOF
“Hinds alumnus Chad Bradford (1995) was inducted into the Mississippi Community and Junior College Sports Hall of Fame on April 27.”
Sue Brooks – In Memoriam
Sue Longest Brooks, of Clinton, who taught in the Speech and Theatre Department at Hinds for 25 years and long respected by faculty and students alike, died Oct. 29. She was 86.
Homecoming 2020
Hinds Community College celebrated Homecoming differently this year, with events divided over two days to facilitate social distancing because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Alumni Service winner makes good by giving back
Ken Coomes grew up in Vicksburg as the third-oldest in a family of 12 children. At 14, Coomes went to work and gave his money to his family – the only way they could pay the bills.
Alejandro Pocasangre
Alejandro Pocasangre (2021) of Jackson, has been hired as an assistant soccer coach at East Mississippi Community College in Scooba. Pocasangre received his bachelor’s degree in Sports Management/ Teaching and Coaching at Mississippi University for Women.
Debbie Norris
Raymond native Debbie Norris (1977) of Canton, and a retired Graduate School Dean and Associate Provost from Mississippi College, was honored with Emeritus status for her significant contributions to the Christian university over her 40-year tenure there.
Tracie D. Herring
Tracie D. Herring (2002) of Vicksburg, was recognized for her time and effort as a volunteer in the Vicksburg Kiwanis Club. She is a partner in the law office of Vollor, Vollor & Herring.
