Give the Gift of Education
It is an honor to work with you to establish a scholarship. We do not charge administration fees to these funds therefore 100% of your gift goes directly into the scholarship account. All scholarship donations are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.
When considering your scholarship, you will first need to determine if you want your scholarship to be endowed or non-endowed. An endowed scholarship is established with a minimum gift of $15,000 donated to the HCC Foundation. The gift will constitute the initial principal for the endowment and only the income earned will be awarded in the form of scholarships. A non-endowed scholarship is established with a minimum gift of $500. Awards from these accounts will be made on a “funds available” basis. Please keep in mind that each year tuition may increase. Tuition for the 2019-2020 academic term is $1660 per semester.
Next, you will need to establish the criteria for your scholarship. These criteria may vary according to your wishes, but should also remain flexible enough to always meet the needs of the students. You will be provided with a guideline to help you as you consider your options. Scholarship donors may not name the recipient of their scholarship without losing the tax deductibility of the gift.
Once this is complete, your scholarship is ready to be awarded! You will have the opportunity to meet your student at our Foundation Scholarship Recognition Reception which is held each Fall.
Thank you for your desire to give the gift of education through your scholarship. You are changing lives on our campus. For more information on establishing a scholarship, please contact Robyn Burchfield, Director of Development & Scholarships, at 601-857-3800.
Students Apply Now
In order to be considered for a scholarship, students must submit an application by the February 15th deadline. Along with this application, students are required to submit two letters of recommendation, a resume, a high school or college transcript, and ACT scores to scholarships@hindscc.edu.
These applications are reviewed by the Hinds CC District Scholarship Committee, which is appointed annually by the President of the College. Committee members evaluate each applicant based on the student’s achievements, involvement in extracurricular activities, financial need, grades, ACT scores, resume, and letters of recommendation. Awards usually range from $500 to $2,400 for the school year.
