“The purpose of the chapter is to cultivate awareness and participation to increase membership so that we can contribute to the legacy and future growth of the band and music programs at Hinds,” said Marty Robertson (1986), president of the Band Alumni Chapter.
Montage’s newly formed alumni chapter members support the company by providing resources and information for professional opportunities to Hinds students.
College students bond through mutual experiences and sometimes develop lasting connections. Hinds Alumni Association acknowledged the significance of those connections and has now established its first Black Alumni Chapter.
Baseball is a brotherhood at Hinds Community College and Preston Johnson (2020) holds fond memories of it, despite the success of teams he’s been part of since his Hinds days. “I absolutely loved it at Hinds,” Johnson said. “It was the best two years of my life, easily.”
Success as a two-sport student-athlete at Hinds made Celeste Bryant Bramlett (2000) want to help others achieve the same – so much so, that her Hinds success influenced her change in majors.
Hinds Athletics hosted its first Alumni Weekend and Golf Outing, which drew 12 teams to play at Eagle Ridge Golf Course on April 8. More than $7,500 was raised to go toward projects to update athletic facilities.

Jack Gibson Moss (1975) passed away on Oct. 12. Moss was the longtime vice president of the Hinds Community College Alumni Association. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Jack G. Moss Memorial Scholarship.
Charles Edwin Banes(1960) of Raymond, passed away on Dec. 4. He attended school at Raymond High School, Hinds Community College and Mississippi State University. He worked for the Hinds County Sheriff Office.
Shemekia Lacy Rankin (2014) a native of Woodville and a resident of Natchez was named in a unanimous vote by the Wilkinson County School Board as the Wilkinson County School Superintendent.
