Natasha Haynes (1992) isn’t a chef by trade, but cooks up the best fast-and-healthy eats the Mississippi State Extension Service website has to offer. She credits her years as a Hinds student, including the college’s student public relations and recruiting group Hinds Connection, for why her food video series has been a success.

Jenny Laird (2002) began her career in scientific research two decades ago cleaning storage tanks where invasive species of plants were kept for study. Since then, her career hasn’t as much grown as it has flown – by way of expansive aviation technology used by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to fulfill its civil works missions, military, emergency response and research and development missions.

Hinds awarded emeritus status to four retirees at spring Convocation on Jan. 5. Dr. Bobby Glenn, Dr. Cleon McKnight and Jackie Waite were awarded Professor Emeritus status. Joe Loviza was awarded Dean Emeritus.

In 2020, the HIT program at Hinds celebrated 50 years in existence. COVID-19 didn’t stop program officials and former students from recognizing the milestone.

Since its inception 34 years ago, the annual Golf Fun Fest, normally held in mid-April, has been the Hinds Community College Foundation’s largest annual fundraiser. Last year, the outbreak of COVID-19 disrupted many events in the area, including Golf Fun Fest.
