What was then Hinds Junior College proved to be the launching pad for university educations and careers for two Louisiana boys who hailed from New Orleans in the early 1950s.
Baseball is a brotherhood at Hinds Community College and Preston Johnson (2020) holds fond memories of it, despite the success of teams he’s been part of since his Hinds days. “I absolutely loved it at Hinds,” Johnson said. “It was the best two years of my life, easily.”
Success as a two-sport student-athlete at Hinds made Celeste Bryant Bramlett (2000) want to help others achieve the same – so much so, that her Hinds success influenced her change in majors.
Hinds Athletics hosted its first Alumni Weekend and Golf Outing, which drew 12 teams to play at Eagle Ridge Golf Course on April 8. More than $7,500 was raised to go toward projects to update athletic facilities.
