Hinds Athletics hosted its first Alumni Weekend and Golf Outing, which drew 12 teams to play at Eagle Ridge Golf Course on April 8. More than $7,500 was raised to go toward projects to update athletic facilities. As part of the weekend event, retired men’s soccer coach Doug Williams was recognized on Saturday morning. A Hinds alumnus, Williams coached the team for 24 years and continues to teach in the Health, Physical Education & Recreation department.
Director of Athletics Nathan Werremeyer used the opportunity to talk to alumni and attendees about his vision for the future of Hinds Athletics. “This was an outstanding event and a great start to a tradition that I hope continues long into the future. We have plans to make it bigger and better next year. I want to thank all the people who helped organize and run the event, especially those that took time out of their day to play” Werremeyer said.
